Dani Olmo missed the first few matches because Barcelona could not register him in time and now, there’s a chance that the midfielder will be on the sidelines once again.

Olmo missed the first two league games of the new season because Barca had to balance their books before they could register the midfielder. The summer signing has played two La Liga games for his new team but he’s gone and picked up a knock during international duty.

Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has confirmed that Dani Olmo has picked up a “bad knock”. He played 82 minutes in the Nations League game vs Serbia but is now a doubt for their next match against Switzerland.

“Dani Olmo has a bad knock from the last game and we don’t know how he will feel between now and tomorrow,” the manager has told a press conference.

“In any case we have two wonderful forwards in Ayoze and Joselu and we have a clear plan that we want to deploy on the pitch.”

How bad is the injury sustained by Dani Olmo?

According to reports, the midfielder is undergoing tests in Geneva to check out the extent of the damage and the details will only be known by late Sunday evening.

It’s almost certain that Dani Olmo is going to miss Barcelona’s next game against Girona but if he is unavailable beyond that then things are going to get seriously complicated.

Barcelona are already without key players like Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Bernal and Fermin Lopez and the last thing Flick wants is another midfield injury.

After the Girona game, the Catalans will begin their Champions League campaign with an away game against AS Monaco and if Dani Olmo is not fit by then it will be a selection nightmare for the manager. For the first two matches, it was Raphinha who played in the No. 10 and if Olmo’s injury is a major one then the Brazilian international will probably have to fill in that role.
