Benfica forward Darwin Nunez is going to be hot property this summer and according to Fabrizio Romano, he will be available for around €80 million.

In a recent interview, Benfica’s interim coach had dropped a bombshell claiming that the club are eyeing Joao Felix(€126m) like prices for Nunez and this statement had sent many European clubs into a tizzy.

Verissimo had said, as per 90Min: “Darwin is an excellent player, he has shown all his quality. He has helped the team a lot, it is true that the team has also helped him a lot.

“He is a young player with a lot of potential, it is natural that given what has been his growth throughout this season and also as a result of the performance he has had in the Champions League games, it is natural that he has attracted the interest of the big European clubs.

“He will be [sold] at the end of this season or the following season depending on the offers. It is natural that it will generate interest from other clubs.

“Now regarding numbers, I hope as a Benfica fan that he will go for numbers close to those that were Joao Felix’s numbers. Now it’s not for me to enter numbers in that regard.”

Anything above €100 million would have ruled out a lot of the suitors but Romano has now cleared the air claiming that Benfica’s demands are way less than earlier thought.

Who are the biggest suitors for Darwin Nunez?

Barcelona and PSG are quite easily the two biggest names who have been linked with the 22-year-old and as per multiple reports, these two sides are seriously keen to sign him.

Barca have Nunez as a backup plan and even PSG will only go after the Uruguyaun only if they are unable to hold onto Kylian Mbappe.

A price tag of €80 million will be right up these two sides’ alley and should they miss out on their primary targets then they can very easily shift their focus to Darwin Nunez.

Is a move to the Premier League a possibility for the 22Y/O?

Amidst the long list of suitors for Darwin Nunez, most of the clubs are from the Premier League and given that he has netted 24 goals in 24 league matches this season it’s very easy to see why so many teams what to sign him.

Clubs such as Arsenal and West Ham United had tried to sign him in January but back then, he was not available for sale. Now that the tides are about to turn, both these London sides will come calling again.

Spurs are also keen to make a move for him but they will only try and sign the 22-year-old if they lose Harry Kane during the summer.

Manchester United and Chelsea though are being actively linked with the forward and as per multiple reports, these two sides are the current frontrunners in this transfer race.

Some rumours have suggested that Darwin Nunez wants to move to the Premier League next season but he will obviously want to join a club who are playing in the Champions League.

Chelsea have more or less secured a place in the UCL next season but only one team out of Man United, Arsenal, West Ham and Spurs are going to finish in the top four this season and whoever that side is will likely get a major upper hand in signing the Benfica star.

Will other teams be interested in Darwin Nunez?

A price tag of around €80 million is very lucrative and many other European teams can afford to pay this fee, that too for such a talented striker.

Teams like Dortmund and Bayern could also lose their main centre-forwards this season so there’s a chance they will also join this race.

If Romano is correct then Benfica have opened the flood gates and there’s a likelihood that Darwin Nunez and not Kane or Haaland will take over the transfer limelight during the summer.
