Arsenal defender David Luiz could be moving out of the club at the end of the 2019-20 season, as per a report in Sky Sports.

The centre-back joined the Gunners last summer from London rivals Chelsea but it looks like his time at the club has already come to an end after just a single season.

The report claims: “David Luiz’s brief spell at Arsenal could be coming to an end with the Brazilian out of contract next month and no negotiations over a new deal planned.

“It was widely reported Luiz arrived in north London on a two-year deal, but Sky Sports News has learned the agreement was only for an initial 12-month stay.”

If this report is true then the £8m Deadline Day signing could be joining a new club next season and there are some rumours that the Brazilian could move out of the Premier League in order to end his professional career at Benfica.

Should David Luiz be allowed to leave Arsenal?

During the current season, David Luiz has featured in 25 Premier League matches so far, scoring two goals. And to be brutally honest, the defender has had a really subdued impact at the Emirates.

But still, we feel, Mikel Arteta should try and hold onto the 33-year-old – not to use him as a regular feature next season but to use his experience inside the dressing room.

Arsenal have a string of young defenders which include newbies like Pablo Mari and William Saliba and according to our thinking, the Gunners boss should try and use Luiz’s vast knowledge to train the Premier League noobs.

The North London club do have players like Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi but both these guys have been really underwhelming this campaign and there’s a big chance the club might sell them off as well.

And so in such a scenario, the Gunners should look to hold onto David Luiz for one more season, so that Mikel Arteta has a fail-safe if things start going downhill next season.
