Premier League side Manchester United seem to have missed out on the signing of RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, according to Bild’s chief football reporter, Christian Falk.
Falk while responding to transfer rumours has made it clear that Manchester United are not likely to get their hands on the 22-year-old French defender whom they had been chasing for almost a year now.
He wrote on Twitter: “True. ManUtd have no more chance for a transfer of Dayot Upamecano”

This is big blow to the hopes of the Man United fans who were wanted to see Dayot Upamecano at their club next season. But, at the same time, Liverpool and Chelsea have been given a big boost since they too are interested in the central defender.
Both the Premier League sides are expected to make a formal move for Dayot Upamecano this summer but they are still lagging behind Bayern Munich.
Falk further added: “True. The decision of Dayot Upamecano is only between FC Bayern, Liverpool and Chelsea now.”

Bayern Munich could lose both Alaba and Jerome Boateng at the end of this season which is why they are going all out to sign Dayot Upamecano.
As per the latest reports, the German side are the favourites to sign the 22-year-old in the summer so both Liverpool and Chelsea will have to work hard if they wish to jump the queue.
Dayot Upamecano has a release clause of just €42.5 million which is clearly not a problem for either of the three interested clubs so it now just comes down to which side the defender wishes to play for next season.
We are still not sure why Manchester United fell out of the race to sign the Frenchman. One possible reason could be the fact that since Bayern Munich are so close to signing him, Man United might have refused to chase a lost cause.
It will be interesting to see how Liverpool and Chelsea react in the coming weeks, now that Man United are no longer in the race.
