Manchester United and Liverpool could miss out on the signing of defender Dayot Upamecano thanks to Chelsea’s pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng.

Boateng is set to be a free agent this summer and even though Bayern are trying to make him sign a new deal at the club but it’s being reported that Chelsea have agreed on transfer terms with his agent.

This means that Bayern are set to lose both Boateng and Alaba at the end of this season which is why they are going all out to try and sign Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has refused to talk about his club’s interest in the 22-year-old despite multiple rumours linking Bayern with the Frenchman.

He had recently said: “We will of course deal with it, not only with this player, but in principle with all the positions where we want and need to do something,

“It’s too early for something like that. He’s still a Leipzig player at least until the end of the season. But it’s common knowledge that he has a clause in his contract.”

Dayot Upamecano to snub Man United & Liverpool?

Real Madrid are expected to sign David Alaba in the summer and if Chelsea also get their hands on Jerome Boateng then Bayern Munich will have no other option but to go head on with the likes of Man United and Liverpool in the pursuit of Dayot Upamecano.

A report in December had claimed that the centre-back would prefer a move to England if he leaves Leipzig next summer but now with Bayern showing such heavy interest, his preferences could change.

Man United and Liverpool have been chasing the defender for months now and both of them are going to make concrete moves at the end of this season.

Even though both the Premier League sides have the financial might to compete with Bayern Munich but the Germans are currently one of the strongest sides in Europe, something which could eventually influence Upamecano’s transfer decision.
