Arsenal brought in David Luiz during the summer transfer window but there has always been a buzz that Unai Emery will be looking to bring in a few defenders next year.

Luiz has obviously been brought in to stable the ship for the current season but the manager will surely look for young defenders to become the mainstay at the club in the future.

And one of the names that have been heavily linked with the Gunners is 21-year-old centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

Upamecano moved to the Austrian Bundesliga from France back in 2015 when he joined Red Bull Salzburg and in 2017 he left for Germany and since then has been plying his trade at RB Leipzig.

Last season, the youngster featured in 22 games across all competition for the Bundesliga side and his performances seem to have caught the attention of Arsenal – as per reports.

If rumours are to be believed then Unai Emery has been keeping tabs on the defender and Arsenal are expected to make a move for him during the next summer transfer window.

While the prospect of Dayot Upamecano joining the Emirates outfit would have surely excited the Arsenal fans but now journalist David Ornstein has more or less confirmed that the 20-year-old would not be coming to London next year.

During a Q&A, the reliable journalist has claimed that Leipzig would be quoting around €100 million for the sale of Upamecano.

The defender is under contract until the summer of 2021 so naturally, Leipzig are in no hurry to let him leave in a hurry.

Also, Arsenal have gone out to splash some much-needed cash this summer but we don’t think the management would sanction €100 million for the transfer of a 20-year-old defender.

Another major factor as to why Arsenal will not make a move for Upamecano next is because as per reports, Arsenal are not looking to add one more defender amongst their ranks next season.

The manager has brought in the likes of Luiz and Tierney this summer and now as per rumours, he wants to sort out the midfield area before the 2020-21 season.
