Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson has been warming the benches this season and if he cannot displace David De Gea soon enough then Newcastle United could be his next destination.

Hendo saw a lot of game time last season which is why he did not want to leave on loan this time around. But David De Gea has since successfully managed to reclaim his No 1 spot meaning Henderson is yet to play even a single game in the Premier League this season.

Various reports have suggested that the 24-year-old will push to leave Manchester United next summer if he cannot become the first-choice keeper at the club and according to former United keeper Mark Bosnich, the shot-stopper should eye Newcastle United as his next destination.

“I think he should go. He’s at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing regular football,” Bosnich told talkSPORT Breakfast.

“He’ll know that as well. I understand that at the start of the season, him having a go in pre-season to see how things plan out.

“De Gea has been excellent and there’s no doubt about it, with the exception of the second goal you have to say against Manchester City which I think he’ll know that he should have saved.

“But I think from Dean Henderson’s point of view, he needs to start looking after Dean Henderson. Newcastle are a club who are on the go and on the move but they are also in a perilous position right now.

“New manager. It’s important to get your spin right and the goalkeeper is the integral part of that. He should go and should go as soon as he possibly can.”

Will Dean Henderson agree to join Newcastle United in January?

If Henderson is keen to move out of Man United then NUFC could try and bring him on board at the start of the new year itself.

But if it’s not a loan deal then there’s no way United will allow Dean Henderson to leave.

The club know very well what a wonderful talent the academy graduate is and since De Gea is entering the final phases of his career, Man United will not want to let go of Henderson just for a few million pounds.

It makes no sense to let the keeper leave in January or the summer and then after one or two seasons go out and spend bag loads of money on a new shot-stopper.

Also, Newcastle United might have money but there’s a big chance that they could be relegated at the end of this season. So the last thing a player like Dean Henderson will want is to play in the Championship.
