Premier League referee Mike Dean has been demoted to a lower league by the FA as he will take charge of a Championship match between Leeds and Barnsley.

This decision came after Mike Dean was under constant criticism during the festive period as he took some shocking decisions. The most controversial among them was the sending of West Ham’s Sofiane Feghouli during their the hammer’s clash against Manchester United. The game also involved an offside goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. United went on to win the game 2-0. And Mike Dean was immediately under the spotlight.

This was not the only time when he was under the sword during the previous month. He was also in the centre of a debate when he decided not to show Ross Barkley of Everton a red card after a bad challenge during the Merseyside Derby.

Dean might have been given a match in a lower league but the game not exactly a pass over. He will be in charge of the Yorkshire Derby as Leeds travel to Burnley. Leeds are seven points from the top and they will be looking to close the gap at the top.
