Arsenal agree personal terms with this 24 Y/O midfielder but will they eventually lose this transfer battle?

Declan Rice Arsenal

According to Football Insider, midfielder Declan Rice has agreed personal terms with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

West Ham United have beaten Fiorentina to win the UEFA Europa Conference League but immediately after the win, all the focus shifted to their star midfielder. Speaking after the historic win, Hammers chairman David Sullivan has said that Rice is likely to leave the club in the summer.

When asked if Declan Rice has played his final match for West Ham, Sullivan said, as quoted: “I think it has to be.

“We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going. You can’t ask for a man who has committed more to us this season.

“In due course, he has to get on and we have to get a replacement – or several replacements.

“It’s not something we want to happen. We offered him £200,000-a-week 18 months ago. He turned it down. It’s cost him £10 million to stay at West Ham in that time [in lost wages]. And he wants to go.

“You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.”

Will Arsenal be able to sign Declan Rice or will they lose out to the other suitors?

West Ham United are ready to sell the midfielder and Declan Rice wants to play for Arsenal next season so this is a match made in heaven.

Arsenal want to wrap up this transfer as quickly as possible but we doubt if they will have a smooth ride in the coming weeks. The Hammers are quoting £100 million plus for the England international but it remains to be seen if Arteta’s side will be ready to pay that much.

Manchester United and now Newcastle United are also interested in signing the midfielder and both these clubs won’t mind spending £100-110 million on Declan Rice.

The Hammers know very well how valuable Rice is so there’s no way they will let him leave for cheap. His current deal with the club expires in 2024 but there’s an option to extend it for a further year so if West Ham are not getting the right worth then they won’t hesitate to trigger the 12-month extension.

Man United and NUFC will definitely put up a stern fight for Declan Rice but the ball is very much in Arsenal’s court. All they have to do is to match West Ham’s asking price and the midfielder will be theirs in no time at all.
