Declan Rice has been linked with several big clubs this season and David Moyes, for the first time, has hinted that the midfielder might be sold in the summer transfer window.

Rice chose to remain with West Ham because the Hammers are playing in Europe this season but there’s no denying that he will look to leave at the end of the campaign, no matter where the club finishes on the Premier League table.

Up until now, only the rumour mills had hinted at Rice’s exit but now Moyes has admitted that he will have to take the unpopular decisions in order to make West Ham United better next season.

“My own worry now is how to keep going for the next few years, how I build on it, how I keep growing it,” Moyes told The Evening Standard.

“On and off the pitch, things will be broken which we’ll have to try and fix. Certainly, Mark Noble leaving will be one of them. We’ve got a fight on and I need to find a way of getting us stronger for next year.

“I see new players, I see a stronger squad, I see a change of the guard in some places because of what’s happening at the club. But that will be normal. We do have to make changes in the summer, we do need to look at how to move forward again.

“I don’t want to go stale, and when I see things dropping away, I have to make sure I step up. We can’t do too much about it at the moment, but we have to make sure we keep squeezing the last bit out of them that we can.

“In football management, you have to make some unpopular decisions at times, that’s part of the job. But, look, I’ll always try to make the right decisions for West Ham.”

Where will Declan Rice end up next season?

Up until now, Chelsea were said to be the frontrunners in signing the England international but their recent ownership troubles mean they might not be able to spend 90 odd million pounds on a single player.

There’s still a long way to go and things can obviously pan out differently but we doubt if a new owner will be as passionate and eager to sign the best players as Roman Abramovich.

Next in line are Manchester United and due to Chelsea’s turmoil, there’s a chance that United will move up the pecking order in the next few months.

The Red Devils are willing to spend money on a new defensive midfielder in the summer but just cause Chelsea were favourites to land Declan Rice, United were looking at alternatives like Youri Tielemans.

Now that Chelsea could fall out of this transfer race, Manchester United are sure to make a concrete move for the defensive midfielder and if only they can secure a Champions League spot then they will have a golden chance at landing Declan Rice before the next season kicks off.
