Chelsea have been trying to bring back Declan Rice for more than a year now and they are going to try one more time next year.

Declan Rice decided not to move out of West Ham United this past summer and according to Darren Bent, it will be really hard for the Blues to get their hands on the midfielder if the Hammers can be successful in Europe.

“If they win the Europa League this year and they are in the Champions League next year, he won’t go anywhere,” Bent stated, as quoted.

“What’s his reason for going then? He’s playing in the best competition in the world then. I think for the first season, once he has a taste of it, West Ham get into the Champions League and he does particularly well.

“If they can somehow win the Europa League, they’re in the Champions League next season, he’s not going anywhere.”

Will Declan Rice snub a move to Chelsea?

Chelsea are not the only club who are interested in signing Rice but they are undoubtedly the favourites.

The Hammers qualifying for Europe was perhaps the only reason why the midfielder did not seek an exit from the London Stadium and if Moyes can take the club all the way in the Europa League then Declan Rice will think long and hard before moving out.

Also, his current deal with the club expires in 2024 so West Ham are in no hurry to part ways with him. It will require a transfer fee of above £80 million just for the Hammers to consider a sale.

Chelsea are surely capable of paying such a substantial amount but if the 22-year-old does not want to move out then there’s no way Tuchel will be able to land him.

But having said all this, it will take a lot for West Ham United to doge all the competition and lift the Europa League trophy.
