Declan Rice is going to be one of the most sought-after players in the market and according to Paul Merson, the England international should be looking to make an exit this summer itself.

Merson believes Rice is currently at the peak of his form so this is the perfect time for him to find a new club. He also laid down the factors required for a club to be able to sign him, a Champions League spot is one of them.

Speaking in an interview with The Daily Star, Merson said: “Declan Rice should strike while the iron’s hot and leave West Ham this summer.

“He’s taken his game to another level this season and is playing [like] N’Golo Kante now, affecting things at both ends of the pitch.

“I’d be surprised if Declan Rice is playing for West Ham next season. They have completely punched above their weight for months.

“Where could he go? Depends what happens at Chelsea and who buys the club. Manchester United would be a good move, but will they get in the Champions League? That’s where Rice wants to play.”

Will Declan Rice secure an exit in the summer?

Give Me Sport has recently claimed that while Rice is keen to sign for a new club but he is not going to create any major antics in order to secure a transfer.

He respects West Ham United very much and since he chose to stay back this season, he’s confident that Moyes will let him leave in the summer.

Even the Hammers know very well that this is the perfect time to cash in on the defensive midfielder and with clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United interested in him, the London side will be able to get a good value as well.

Chelsea or Man United: Who are the favourites?

Owing to Chelsea’s current situation, it’s very hard to predict if they will move for Declan Rice or if they will withdraw their interest.

Manchester United will definitely launch a bid for the midfielder but if they are not in the top-four then it will become really difficult for them to sign the England international.

Having said that, Chelsea and Man United are the only two sides interested in him so if Chelsea back off then Rice will have no other choice but to join United(if he is serious about leaving).

Real Madrid have just made it clear that they are not going to pursue in this race because the 23-year-old’s price tag is too high.
