West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has turned himself into one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League and over the past year he has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

It was at Chelsea that Rice had started his youth career before joining the Hammers setup in 2013. And now that he has established himself into a world-class player the Blues want him back.

David Moyes has time and again made it clear that they will not be selling Declan Rice in the coming summer transfer window and now even the player has dropped a major hint at staying put, revealing that he is looking for the new European challenge at West Ham.

The midfielder said on paying in the Europa League next season for West Ham United: “We’ll go and play anyone.

“Thursday nights here next season… it is going to be massive, so let’s build on it.

“It has been amazing to captain the team this season and we’ve got many more good moments to come. It is unbelievable, the gaffer has been top. Everyone has played their part, working day in, day out.”

Are Chelsea even interested in signing Declan Rice?

It was former manager Frank Lampard who was interested in bringing Declan Rice back into the side but now that Chelsea are being managed by Thomas Tuchel, we are not even sure if the new boss wants the midfield or not.

The Blues have other transfer priorities to deal with in the summer and right now, their defensive midfield area looks pretty sorted with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.

The 22-year-old has three more years left on his current deal with West Ham United so if Chelsea are seriously eager to sign him then Abramovich will have to shell out a hell lot of money.

Chelsea are obviously not the only team who have been linked with Declan Rice in the past few months but now that West Ham United have secured a European spot, we think the midfielder will be more tempted to stay back rather than start a new challenge somewhere else.
