Chelsea have been in pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice for over a year now and as per the latest reports, the transfer could finally be happening.
Recent rumours had suggested that West Ham United might be able to hold onto Declan Rice since Frank Lampard’s own future at Chelsea is up in the air but according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, the move is inevitable.

The Blues wanted to sign Rice during the last summer transfer window but West Ham United eventually managed to hold onto him for one more season.
Now with Alex Crook’s statements, it seems like manager Frank Lampard will be getting his signing after all.
This news comes at a time when the likes of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho have not been at the best of their forms for Chelsea and against Manchester City the Frenchman had a really poor outing in defensive midfield.
Declan Rice, on the other hand, has been stellar for West Ham United this season as well, featuring in each one of their Premier League games so far.
Now it remains to be seen if Chelsea make a move for Rice during the ongoing transfer window or are they willing to wait till the end of the season.
David Moyes will not be too eager to part ways with his most prized asset during the middle of the season but some experts feel if Chelsea can offer substantial money then the Hammers could opt to send Declan Rice out this month.
All in all, it’s only a matter of time that the 21-year-old returns to the club he left as a youngster and with such a top defensive midfielder coming in, players like Jorginho and Kante are expected to be shown the door during the summer.
Both Jorginho and Kante are still top players in their own right so Lampard will expect to get a substantial amount of money from their sales which he can use to fund the acquisition of Declan Rice.
