Manchester United to try and sign this 22 Y/O defensive midfielder in a sensational swap deal?

Declan Rice Arsenal

West Ham United could make a last dash to sign Jesse Lingard and if Manchester United are interested in selling him then Ole could ask for Declan Rice in return.

Rice has been linked with Manchester United throughout the summer but his £100 million price tag seems to be keeping the suitors away. And according to The Telegraph, even the midfielder is not happy with such an absurd ask.

Matt Law writes: “Declan Rice is unhappy that West Ham United have effectively priced him out of this summer’s transfer market by valuing him at £100million and has no plans to sign a new contract.

“West Ham are currently the only Premier League club not to make a single permanent signing this summer and have not demonstrated to Rice that the club can match his ambition.

“West Ham will compete in the Europa League this season, but, having seen Jesse Lingard return to United, the club’s squad is currently weaker than the one that finished last term.

“Any approach to re-sign Lingard, either permanently or on loan, could prompt United to ask about signing Rice but the England international fears West Ham’s valuation would scare off the Old Trafford club.”

Will West Ham United let Declan Rice leave?

West Ham United are badly in need of a creative player like Jesse Lingard, especially if they want to genuinely compete in Europe.

And since Lingard has not featured in the starting XI for United’s first two matches, it’s safe to say that he wants out as well.

So this could very well turn out to be a win-win situation for Man United.

At £100million, United will definitely not go after Declan Rice but if Lingard is included in that deal then surely Man United will be able to afford him.

After Fred’s pathetic display against Southampton, Ole can certainly do with a world-class defensive midfielder and if Lingard is eager to head back to the London Stadium then Man United have a really big chance of signing Rice.

Chelsea have also been heavily linked with a move for the West Ham United midfielder but after spending so much money on Romelu Lukaku, there’s no way Thomas Tuchel will be able to bring in Declan Rice this summer.
