West Ham United have been successful at holding onto Declan Rice this season but they won’t be so lucky next summer, according to a report by 90Min.

Rice had opted not to force a move out of the club during the recently concluded transfer window but he has already given hints that this season is going to be his last at the London Stadium.

The Hammers are planning to offer him a new deal at the club very soon but as per 90Min, the club could have a major conflict in ideology.

The report claims: “West Ham have been considering offering Rice a new contract, even though his current deal runs to 2024, as his wages do not represent his position and stature within the club.

“Rice would be open to signing a new deal on the proviso that it included a release clause, which would allow him to leave the club if a fixed figure was met by a potential buyer.

“However 90min has learned that West Ham have a rule of not including release clauses in contracts – meaning a new deal is now unlikely.”

Will Declan Rice sign a new deal with West Ham?

Declan Rice is fully focusing on helping West Ham United secure another successful season and one of the main reasons why he did not ask for an exit is because the Hammers will be playing in Europe this campaign. But some rumours have suggested that the player was not happy with the club quoting absurd figures for him in the summer.

The Hammers wanted around £100 million for his sale, something which all of the suitors were not willing to pay.

And this is the exact reason why Rice wants a release clause added to his deal.

Clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea had all enquired about him in the summer and they are sure to come back for him next year as well.

But since his current deal with West Ham expires in 2024, David Moyes is under no pressure to cash in on him. Now, the only thing left for us to see is if the club will break their tradition and add a release clause in his new deal.
