Chelsea and Manchester United are keen to land midfielder Declan Rice but West Ham United will do all they can to hold onto the 22-year-old, claims Mike McGrath.

McGrath is a journalist for The Telegraph and in a recent interview with Fabrizio Romano, he updated that the interested clubs will have to table a crazy offer for the Hammers to sanction a sale.

Mike McGrath stated, as quoted: “Rice is an absolutely fantastic player. I had the privilege of seeing Cesc Fabregas live and Rice reminds me of him, especially in the way he controls the midfield.

“It’s going to take something amazing to get out of West Ham. They desperately want him to stay.

“There are clubs interested but it is going to be very difficult.”

Will the two interested clubs be ready to pay £100M for Declan Rice?

Declan Rice is one of the most sought after defensive midfielders this summer but the way he has been carrying himself, we do not think clubs like Chelsea or Manchester United will be able to sign him.

Rice has already returned to pre-season training and according to the latest reports, he has shown no signs of discontent at the club. This is a major boost for manager David Moyes who will be taking West Ham into Europe next season.

And since his current deal expires in 2024, with an option to extend one more year, West Ham United are demanding £100 million to let him leave during the ongoing transfer window.

We don’t think Chelsea or Manchester United will be ready to spend that much money on a single player, especially since they have other priorities as well as alternatives.

The Blues will look to bring in Romelu Lukaku first and then Jules Kounde from Sevilla while Manchester United have also been keeping tabs on midfielders like Saul Niguez and Ruben Neves.
