Chelsea and Manchester United might not be able to get their hands on West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice during the ongoing transfer window, as per The Telegraph.

The first major reason why the two sides are yet to make any concrete offer for the 22-year-old is that the Hammers are asking £100 million for him.

As per TransferMarkt, Rice is valued at £63 million but since his current deal expires in 2024, the Hammers can quote such unbelievable numbers. The London side are in no hurry to offload Declan Rice which is why both Chelsea and Manchester United are thinking long and hard before making an official bid.

The other big reason why Man United and Chelsea are not likely to sign the midfielder this summer is that he has shown no signs of discontent nor has he asked to leave.

Matt Law writes: “Declan Rice has returned to pre-season training at West Ham United and has not made any demands to leave before the end of the current transfer window, despite turning down two contract offers.

“Telegraph Sport exclusively revealed last month that Rice has turned down two offers to extend his West Ham contract and wanted to be informed about any bids for him.

“The Hammers are yet to make a third contract offer, which would most likely be rejected in any case, and Rice is relaxed about his future and focussed on preparing for the new season.”

Declan Rice to remain at West Ham United?

All the signs are suggesting that Declan Rice is not going to vacate his locker room during the ongoing transfer window.

The only way Man United or Chelsea will get their hands on him is if they are ready to pay £100-odd million for the midfielder.

Ideally, Chelsea are the favourites to land the 22-year-old but as things stand, neither of the two suitors are in any hurry to bring Declan Rice onboard.

Also because West Ham United have secured a place in Europe, Rice will get to showcase talent at the continental stage next season while playing at the London Stadium.
