West Ham United travel to Stamford Bridge on Monday in order to take on Chelsea in the Premier League.

And many believe the Hammers are staring down their 15th defeat of the 2018-19 Premier League season.

Right now, Pellegrini’s men are 11th on the league table and their main aim right now is to secure that elusive Europa League spot for the next season.

And even though the Hammers are just five points adrift that seventh spot but many believe they are already chasing a long cause.

Speaking before his team’s clash vs London rivals Chelsea, midfielder Declan Rice has claimed that failure to grab hold of every opportunity has cost them dearly this campaign.

“Every chance we’ve had to go seventh this season, we haven’t taken that opportunity,” Rice told the club’s official website.

“It kind of shows where we’re at. We need to be aiming for bigger things and, with the squad we’ve got, we need to finish higher than what we have done in recent years.

“This has been a fresh week. We’ve turned a new page and we’re looking forward to the game.

“The manager has been on at us to have a big mentality and a strong mentality. We want to aim big. We have to start taking our opportunities.”

So far they have lost 14 and drawn six games but to be very honest, Manuel Pellegrini’s men have dropped a lot of points unnecessarily.

Yes, the first couple of games for West Ham were really tough, but since then the London outfit have been slack in their performance way too often.
