West Ham United somehow managed to hold onto Declan Rice this season and this judgment could turn out to be a game-changer for David Moyes.
Clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United had desperately tried to get their hands on the England international after a successful European Championship but the midfielder chose to remain with the Hammers for one more season.
West Ham United are currently sitting on the third spot in the Premier League table and it’s Rice who has been running the show in the middle of the pitch for the Hammers.
The midfielder has played in 11 Premier League games this season and according to Fotmob, he has a rating of 7.76. He has collected praise from every quarter and it looks like West Ham United are set to benefit from his performances in more ways than one.
According to a report in the London Evening Standard(via Claret and Hugh), the 22-year-old value has gone up even more in the previous few months.
Which clubs can afford Declan Rice next summer?
Last summer, West Ham were demanding around £100 million to sell the midfielder but there’s no way Moyes will let him leave for that figure next year.
According to TransferMarkt, Rice’s current market value is £63 million but this was updated last in July so once the values are recalculated, his rates are bound to go up.
Also, he has three more years on his current deal so West Ham are in no hurry to offload him and if they can qualify for the Champions League next season then they will have another strong motivation to persuade him not to leave.
Declan Rice’s game by numbers vs. Liverpool:
91% pass accuracy
75% total duels won
21 attempted forward passes
18 successful forward passes
10 ball recoveries
6 attempted tackles
5 successful tackles

Right now we are looking at figures of around £120-130 million and while Chelsea are capable of paying such amounts but we don’t think the management will sanction such a crazy value at one go.
Manchester United, on the other hand, are desperately in need of a world-class defensive midfielder so they are more likely to go after Declan Rice. The duo of Fred and McTominay has been pathetic this campaign and it’s an open secret that they need more to plug that hole in the side.
Chelsea too can try and sign the midfielder but they will only make a move if they can recoup a significant amount from selling some current players. Their net spend this year was very low so if they can bring in around £50-60 million from sales then they too will jump into the market for the England international.
