‘This’ Chelsea man reveals the probable reason why they drew vs Leicester: Good excuse?

Chelsea played their first home of the season against Leicester City this weekend and they could only afford to draw the game.

The match ended with a scoreline of 1-1 which means that Lampard has not been able to pick up a win during his first three games in charge.

This was the third match that Chelsea had played since the start of the season including a midweek clash vs Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup.

And Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has hinted that the tiredness from that match in Istanbul could have affected the result of their clash vs the Foxes on Sunday.

“There is a long way to go and we are not worried,” Zouma said after the match.

“There are players who came back from loan – like me – and other players, the younger guys who came in.

“Now we are starting to understand each other. We just need to be more clinical. We just need to score more goals.

“We wanted to win the game but listen, I’d say we were maybe a bit tired in the legs. Obviously, Leicester played well. They pressed us very, very well and we had to deal with the pressure.

“We were tired. We tried to press but we didn’t have the legs so maybe we have to stay more back, control the game a bit more, try to keep the ball a bit better. But these are the things we learn.

“I don’t know if UEFA were wrong to ask clubs to play extra-time. You should ask higher up.

“We had a long journey after the game and played 120 minutes there so it was difficult. We need to work hard.

“We have to prepare for Norwich this weekend now. Every game, we must win. We want to win this one, of course.”

While Zouma does have a fair argument but Liverpool also played in the Super Cup but they somehow managed to pick up a win this weekend vs Southampton.

But somehow Chelsea failed to gather the momentum despite having one additional day’s worth of rest before they welcomed the Foxes.
