Man United thumped Southampton 9-0 in the English Premier League in midweek but according to Ian Wright, forward Mason Greenwood should have done more during the match.

Mason Greenwood started the game on the right wing and the youngster played some fine football, providing one assist during the first half of the match. But according to Wright, Greenwood should have put his name on the scoresheet against the Saints as it would have gone a long way in boosting his confidence for the remainder of the season.

When asked if Mason Greenwood disappointed him, the pundit told Premier League Productions, as per The Metro: ‘Yeah because he’s a forward and he needs to score at the minute.

‘I thought he did some good stuff today but even when Daniel James came on Daniel James got himself in a situation when the ball came across when Bruno Fernandes headed it back that he got himself in the middle of the goal.

‘I didn’t see Mason Greenwood in the middle of the goal too many times on a day in which there was goals to be had.’

Last season, Mason Greenwood was the talk of the town at Manchester United but his impact has diminished during the 2020-21 campaign as he has managed to score only a single goal in the Premier League so far.

And in a match which ended 9-0, Greenwood should have found the back of the net, more so since he was on the pitch for the whole 90 minutes.

The failure to score a goal will undoubtedly play in the youngster’s mind for a little while but with Anthony Martial not in peak form, we think Solskjaer will show more faith on the 19-year-old.

Next up, Man United take on Everton during the weekend and we think, the Man United is going to reward Mason Greenwood with yet another start.
