Arsenal have been linked with a move for Real Madrid misfit Luka Jovic during the summer – as per the latest reports.
The 22-year-old forward made a big-money move to Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer but the forward has turned out to be a massive flop for the Los Blancos.
During the 2019-20 season, Luka Jovic has played in just 15 La Liga games so far and has managed to net only two goals along with one assist.
And it’s no secret that Real Madrid are looking to offload him at the end of the season.
While a number of big European clubs have been linked with a move for the Serbian, but some rumours claim that Mikel Arteta wants the forward as a replacement to Lacazette could be on his way out.
As per the reports, Madrid are willing to send out Luka Jovic on a loan deal and the Gunners want to sign him despite heavy interest from the likes of Chelsea and Spurs.
Luka Jovic needed at Arsenal?
And while the player was in peak form for Eintracht, many pundits feel that Luka Jovic is not the same player anymore and that Arsenal will be wasting essential money by signing him.
“Done nothing in a Real Madrid shirt. The potential he showed at Frankfurt, he was highly thought of. It doesn’t always go to plan. He can add to Arsenal – but I don’t believe Arsenal need a striker. They need centre-halves,” Ferdinand had said recently.
We can’t help but agree with Rio Ferdinand primarily because Jovic has all the making of being the next Alvaro Morata if he decides to move to England in the summer.
Surely Luka Jovic will need time to get his form back and settle down in the Premier League but Arsenal need someone who can start firing on all cylinders from the very first week.
But having said all this, a lot of the interest in Luka Jovic will depend on whether Alexandre Lacazette chooses to move out or not. If the Frenchman chooses to remain at the Emirates.
