Fikayo Tomori, Kante & Wijnaldum Liverpool vs Chelsea

Chelsea have offered a new contract to N’Golo Kante but the midfielder is stalling on a new deal, as per a report in The Athletic.

Journalist David Ornstein has claimed that the Blues have offered a three-year deal to the World Cup winner but the Frenchman wants an even longer deal.

His current contract with Chelsea expires in 2023 and while he is ready to end his career at Stamford Bridge but he wants a longer commitment. However, Chelsea have factored in the number of injuries he has sustained in the previous few years which is why they are not ready to take too much of a risk.

Should Chelsea offer him a four-year deal to N’Golo Kante?

Kante joined Chelsea in 2016 and over the years, he’s been one of the most important players for the London side.

However, in the previous two seasons, he’s been massively injury prone and even now, he is out with a muscle injury. Last season, he missed 16 games across all competitions and this campaign, he’s already been out for 32 days.

N’Golo Kante turned 31 in March and with age, the frequency of these injuries is just going to increase so it makes complete sense why the Blues are slowly pushing him to the fringes.

Chelsea are doing the correct thing in offering him a three-year deal and since they have now signed Denis Zakaria, the London side have no reason to cave into Kante’s demands. Zakaria is just 25 years old and he’s slated to replace the Frenchman in the long run.

We highly doubt if the new owners are going to improve on their current offer so if Kante does not accept the two-plus-one-year deal then he will be allowed to leave as a free agent next summer.
