Liverpool and Manchester United linked midfielder Youri Tielemans might be looking to leave Leicester City during the current summer transfer window.

The midfielder has been a key part of Brendan Rodgers’s side during the 2020-21 season, playing in 51 games across all competitions and the Foxes have already tabled a new contract in front of the Belgian international.

While Youri Tielemans has shown no signs of discontent at the club but according to a report by Eurosport, the midfielder is going to advance his contract talks only after the European Championship is over.

The report claims: “Youri Tielemans is expected to wait until after the European Championship before committing to a new contract at Leicester City.

“Tielemans enjoys life under Brendan Rodgers but sources are indicating that he will not rush into signing a new contract just yet.

“He could boost his profile even further with a successful tournament and does not want to limit his options at this stage.”

Does Youri Tielemans want to leave Leicester City?

The midfielder has shown no sign of leaving Leicester but the talks have stalled at the exact time when both Manchester United and Liverpool are being linked with him.

Liverpool are looking for a long-term replacement to Gini Wijnaldum and according to ex-Red Paul Stewart, Tielemans will slot straight into the Liverpool midfield next season.

“He’s been excellent all season and I’ve watched him play and he’s another player that I really admire,” the former Liverpool star told Football Fancast.

“I think Tielemans would really enhance their squad and he’d walk straight into the team because he is someone with massive quality and ability.”

Man United also need an upgrade to the likes of Fred and Nemanja Matic and someone like Youri Tielemans could be the perfect solution to Ole’s midfield woes.

The Belgium international has two more years left on his current deal so Leicester City do not need to hit the panic button just yet but they will not be able to rest comfortably until Youri Tielemans puts pen on paper to a new deal at the club.
