Arsenal eyeing a formal move for this 24 Y/O English forward: A top-class signing?

Arsenal are planning to bring in some attacking reinforcements next year and according to Football London, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin is one of their top priorities.

The report claims: “Edu’s next task at Arsenal will be bringing in a new top striker, with Mikel Arteta looking likely to lose a number of important forward players at the end of this campaign.

“For these reasons, the technical director and his team will already be working hard on scouting and building a suitable shortlist of strikers to pursue next summer.

“And it’s expected that the number one standout candidate on that list will be Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.”

Will Dominic Calvert-Lewin join Arsenal?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has risen sharply at Everton over the past few seasons but now that Carlo Ancelotti has left the club, the forward has no real incentive to stay.

Everton are not likely to get into Europe next season either and if Arsenal can somehow manage a Europa League spot then they will surely have the upper hand in signing DCL.

His current deal with Everton expires in 2025 and he is valued at £40.5 million so the Gunners will have to pay a hefty transfer fee if they wish to get their hands on him next year.

With Lacazette and Nketiah leaving, Dominic Calvert-Lewin will face very little competition at the club meaning regular game time should not be a problem for him at the Emirates Stadium.

Everton will obviously resist his sale next year but if a good enough offer is made then we don’t think Benitez can manage to look the other way for too long.

DCL is not the only centre-forward who will be on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist but the England international has very much adapted to the Premier League so he will take no time to settle down at Arsenal.
