Donny van de Beek had a really tough time with Manchester United this past season so it was not a major surprise that he has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners are actively searching for a new midfielder for the upcoming season and some rumours had claimed that manager Mikel Arteta is trying to sign the Dutch international as he’s failed to impress at Manchester United.

Donny van de Beek had warmed the benches at Old Trafford for the whole of the 2020/21 season but Fabrizio Romano has made it clear that the former Ajax man is not on Arsenal’s transfer wish list.

The transfer expert wrote on Twitter: “There are no talks between Arsenal, Manchester United or player agents for Donny van de Beek.

“Arsenal will sign a new midfielder, for sure – but there’s nothing going on for van de Beek as of today. There are other names in the list as priorities.”

Manchester United paid £35 million for Van de Beek last summer but he has massively failed to impress during his time first season in England.

During the 2020-21 season, the 24-year-old played in only 19 Premier League games, making substitute appearances in 15 of them. Looking at these stats, it’s only natural for him to be linked with a move out of the club but we don’t think Ole will be too eager to send him out after just a single season.

Publicly, Van de Beek has shown no signs of discontent till now either which is one more reason why the links to Arsenal made no sense.

Arsenal are looking to bring in a new attacking midfielder after Martin Odegaard’s return to Real Madrid but Donny van de Beek is not going to be one of them.
