Liverpool want to sign a new centre-forward this summer and according to The Metro, they have opened talks with PSV Eindhoven’s 22-year-old striker Donyell Malen.

They cite Sky Germany writing: “Liverpool have begun talks over a move for PSV Eindhoven and Netherlands star Donyell Malen, who previously spent two years in the Arsenal academy system.

“Sky Sport Germany report that talks have already begun for the Reds to bring the forward to Anfield this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to mix things up in his front three.

“The report suggests PSV would be looking for an offer of around £34m for their young star who is under contract at the club until 2024.”

Will Donyell Malen be a good signing for Liverpool?

Roberto Firmino has been degrading with each passing season and if Liverpool want to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season then they have to bring in a new striker.

Malen had been on the books of the Arsenal youth system for two years before joining Eindhoven in 2017. And in these past four years, the forward has turned himself into one of the top-rated youngsters in Dutch football.

With Jadon Sancho set to leave, Borussia Dortmund are also keeping tabs on the striker and a couple of days ago, former Dutch coach Aad de Mos had claimed that BVB could be the ideal club for Malen.

“[Borussia Dortmund] are a team that play very attacking [football]”, De Mos said on Dutch talk show VI EK Live, as quoted.

“He [Malen] is good with dribbling in tight areas and plays with pace, so Dortmund would be a good club for him. If he can get into deep [areas] around striker [Erling] Haaland, that would be great. Then he will score goals!”.

But now that Liverpool have come into this race, Donyell Malen will have a real decision to make(and we expect him to make a very practical choice since his agent is Mino Raiola).

If he chooses a move to Liverpool he will have the opportunity to become the first-choice centre-forward at the club in a few year’s time but at Dortmund, he should get ample game time next season if Sancho is on his way to Manchester United.

Last season, the 22-year-old played in 32 league games for the club, scoring 19 and assisting eight goals.
