Schalke 04 will be hosting Dortmund in the 150th Revierderby this weekend and we can’t wait to see how one of the biggest rivalries in Germany unfold.

Dortmund who are third in the league will take on Schalke 04. the result of this match will have no outcome whatsoever in terms of Dortmund’s title challenge. But still, a derby is something that excites everyone, no matter what the situation may be.

Can Dortmund keep up their pace?

Dortmund have fallen miles behind in the German title race and all they can hope from this match is to salvage some pride and form. Bayern have been steam rolling forward and have to intentions of stopping before they touch the silverware. But having said all this Dortmund do have a lot of things to prove on the field. Both as a team and as individuals.

Thomas Tuchel’s side thrives on fast paced football. It’s in their DNA to set up goals from counter attacks. But having said that, this match will not be that easy. Their attacks might be hampered simply cause Schalke are a big team and Dortmund have to defend with equal precision. The likes of Pulisic might have to come down to support his defense. And the absence of Sven Bender does not make things anymore easier for Tuchel.

Borussia Dortmund is basically that German factory which keeps churning out youngsters at the drop of a hat. And Tuchel might have to rely on that bucket of young talent to shut out Schalke.

Home advantage for the Royal Blues:

Schalke 04 signed Guido Burgstaller during the January transfer window from Nurnberg. Since arriving at the Veltins Arena, the Austrian has netted 4 goals in 9 matches for the Royal Blues. Being a home game for Schalke we can readily assume that they will be playing with a bit more authority. And having said that, if the Royal Blues can provide enough support to Burgstaller, then he can prove to be a big headache for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Schalke are ninth on the league table, 13 points off Dortmund. A win for them in this match will certainly boost their opportunities in finishing fifth in the league at the end of the season.
