Arsenal are really focused on signing Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina during the ongoing transfer window but we don’t think the Gunners will be able to pull off this deal.

In a recent report by 90min, it was being claimed that the Premier League side are ready to pay the demanded transfer fee which stands at around £66 million but despite their lucrative offer, Arsenal seem to have a dead end.

According to the latest update by The Athletic, the talks between the North London side and the player have reached a ‘stalemate’ and there has been no progress in the past week.

Can Arsenal sign Dusan Vlahovic in January?

The short answer to this question would be no because, in a recent interview, Fiorentina director Joe Barone had made it clear that the club have not held talks with Dusan Vlahovic over a January move.

“Some English clubs have made contact, but there is no agreement yet,” he said. “We are open [to selling] but there can’t be a deal unless someone [Vlahovic] agrees.

“I haven’t heard anything from them [Vlahovic’s representatives]. I had asked Vlahovic’s agent to be clear, but I haven’t heard anything, no contact at all.”

And with so many other clubs also interested in signing him, we don’t think the 21-year-old will commit to Arsenal so easily. Clubs like Spurs and Man City have also been linked with him so Vlahovic is not likely to try and secure a rather hasty exit during the middle of the season.

Will Arsenal shift their focus to another striker?

There have been whispers of Juventus also showing an interest in Dusan Vlahovic so it will be doubly hard for Arsenal to sign the striker in the next few days.

And this is why some experts think the Gunners could swiftly shift their focus to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

DCL is someone who has also been on Arsenal’s radar for some time and if they think they can’t sign Vlahovic in time then Mikel Arteta could very much reignite his interest in the Everton man.

The Toffees have valued the England international at around £60 million and that’s around the same amount that Fiorentina are quoting for their forward.

We are still not sure if Arsenal will formally move for Calvert-Lewin or not but as things stand, it will be really hard for the Premier League to secure a transfer for Dusan Vlahovic.
