Premier League side Liverpool are in the hunt for a new striker this summer and if The Sun is to be believed then Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic could be that man.

The report claims: “LIVERPOOL are locked in the transfer race to sign Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to reports.

“Juventus, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are all ready to scrap for his signature. Fiorentina are holding out for £52million for their star man who still has two years left on his contract.

“But the report adds how Liverpool are also ‘holding talks’ with boss Jurgen Klopp eager to land a new striker.”

Should Liverpool look to sign Dusan Vlahovic?

Dusan Vlahovic was recently linked with Arsenal but Fabrizio Romano made it clear that the Gunners are not interested in signing him.

He said in his podcast, as quoted: “Dusan Vlahovic, rumours from Italy for the striker of Fiorentina. Amazing player, he really is, scored 21 goals in a single season with Fiorentina, really is an interesting player, he’s 21 years old.

“But he’s not joining Arsenal, so there were rumours about Arsenal making the bid, something like this. No, not true, Vlahovic is not going to Arsenal.”

The disinterest from Arsenal did very little to douse the popularity of Dusan Vlahovic and now Liverpool’s entry is set to make things even more interesting.

The 21-year-old joined Fiorentina in 2018 and during the 2020/21 season, the striker has been in peak form for the Italian side, scoring 21 goals in 37 Serie A games.

£52million is surely a steep price for a player who only has two more years left on his current deal, plus as per TransferMarkt, he is valued at only £36 million.

But with clubs like Juventus and Atletico Madrid also interested in him, it’s no surprise that Fiorentina are bumping up the price.

Jurgen Klopp needs an upgrade in the centre-forward’s department but before the manager can make a concrete bid for Dusan Vlahovic, he will have to make up his mind about Roberto Firmino.

Firmino has been really underwhelming last summer so if someone like Vlahovic is coming in then Liverpool will have to sell off the Brazilian. The Anfield outfit also has Diogo Jota so there’s going to be no room for the Fiorentina man if one of the current forwards is not moving out.
