Premier League sides Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with striker Dusan Vlahovic but as per the latest reports, Fiorentina are trying their best to keep the English giants at bay.

Liverpool Echo cite Tuttosport: “Fiorentina are looking to offer Dusan Vlahovic a new contract to fend off Liverpool interest, according to reports.

“The Reds as well as Tottenham have been linked with the striker who impressed with 21 goals in Serie A last term.

“According to Tuttosport, the Reds are interested in Vlahovic, with Fiorentina looking to offer the young talent a new deal to convince him to stay at the club.”

Will Dusan Vlahovic sign a new deal?

The 21-year-old joined Fiorentina in 2018 and during the 2020/21 season, the striker had been in peak form for the Italian side, scoring 21 goals in 37 Serie A games.

As per TransferMarkt, he is valued at only £36 million and his current deal with the club expires in 2023. But despite the odds stacked against them, Fiorentina have put a massive price tag on Dusan Vlahovic.

Many think this £52 million tag is just to keep teams like Liverpool and Spurs at a safe distance and to be able to get the time to negotiate a new deal with the Serbian.

Liverpool can use an upgrade to Roberto Firmino next season while many have tipped Dusan Vlahovic to be the ideal replacement for Harry Kane, should the England international head out of Spurs.

But with such a steep price tag on his shoulders, we doubt if either of the two English clubs will be interested in signing him this summer.

This is exactly what Fiorentina want right now and since the 21-year-old has shown no signs of discontent, we don’t think he’ll make too much of a fuss about signing the new contract.
