Man United manager wary of one AS Roma player before the first-leg: Too big a concern?

Man United welcome AS Roma in the Europa League semi-final this week and speaking ahead of Thursday’s match, Solskjaer has sounded the alarm bells against Edin Dzeko.

Roma might not be in the best of forms going into the first leg, winning just one out of their previous five league matches but according to Ole, Edin Dzeko could be a game-changer for the Italian side who are sure to give it their all at this crucial stage in Europe.

The manager said, as quoted by Manchester Evening News: “We’re in a semi-final now and it feels like a proper European tie, because Roma is a club with loads of tradition and history, but we’ve done well against Italian teams before.

“We’re looking forward to it and we’re going into these games hoping to get to the final. If you can finish this season with a final and a trophy then that would be great.

“They’re an experienced team and we all know Edin Dzeko, so any ball in the box is a dangerous one.”

Edin Dzeko has been in and out of the AS Roma side due to a few injuries and also due to the coronavirus. But the 35-year-old has still managed to score 11 goals across all competitions this season.

The forward will obviously be a target inside the box which will be a big test of character for players like Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka since these two have not been too comfortable in dealing with aerial threats this season.

Former Man United man Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been the pick of the lot for Roma this season, scoring nine and assisting eight goals this campaign and he too will be itching to put on a show-stopping performance against his former side.

Ex-Chelsea man Pedro is not likely to be present due to an injury but Smalling will get a chance to start after recovering from his thigh problem.
