Edinson Cavani is out of contract at PSG at the end of this season and Thomas Tuchel has made it clear that the player is trying to move out this month.
And amidst all this, Chelsea have been linked with the 32-year-old with Frank Lampard openly praising him.
The manager had said some time back: ‘There’s nothing absolutely imminent.
‘We’re looking but there’s nothing to tell you that might happen right away. Cavani is a great player.
“I played against him and always loved his mentality and attitude, and obviously his goalscoring record speaks for itself. I’m not aware of his situation so we’ll see.
‘He’s an experienced player but so are many other players out there. We are young as a squad and we know about the transition so the idea of bringing in experience is something I’m certainly not looking absolutely away from because sometimes the younger players need a bit of help and that may help us.’
But Manchester United have now entered the race to sign Edinson Cavani with reports claiming that Ole wants the PSG man to act as a replacement for the injured Marcus Rashford.
And while both these teams are fighting hard to sign the player, it looks like Cavani has moved one step closer to moving out PSG after Thomas Tuchel left him out of the squad for the 2-0 win vs Lille.
“It’s a little bit the same thing with Edi,” Tuchel said, speaking amid the speculation as quoted by Football London.
“He has been training with us for the past few days, but the situation is not clear for him either. And for that, he will not be available for tomorrow.”
It is still unclear as to which club Edinson Cavani will be joining since Atletico Madrid have also been heavily linked with the forward with some rumours even claiming that Cavani is on the brink of joining Simeone’s side.
Chelsea too have made a loan offer for the player but it remains to be seen whether PSG are willing to accept a temporary deal for a soon-to-be-free agent.
