Arsenal have been keeping tabs on 18-year-old wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga for some time and they are expected to make a move for him this summer. But if the latest reports are to be believed then recently crowned European champions Chelsea have also joined the hunt.

Mikel Arteta is planning to strengthen his midfield for the upcoming season and many think the Rennes man could be the ideal replacement for someone like Granit Xhaka. Eduardo Camavinga has been a constant figure in the Rennes midfield this season, featuring in 35 Ligue 1 matches, scoring one and assisting two goals.

Now, The Guardian are claiming that the 18-year-old happens to be on the transfer wishlist of Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

Jacob Steinberg writes: “Another midfielder is also a possibility. Tuchel has revived Chelsea’s interest in Declan Rice, though there is no indication that West Ham are prepared to sell him. Other options include Benfica’s Julian Weigl, Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga and Monaco’s Aurélien Tchouaméni.”

As of now, Arsenal do not have too much to worry about since Edouardo Camavinga is not at the top of Tuchel’s priority list but the Gunners will have to move swiftly before their London rivals start showing some concrete interest in the 18-year-old.

Eduardo Camavinga is not the only player that Arsenal are scouting either but like most of their other targets, the 18-year-old will also not come cheap so Mikel Arteta clearly has a lot of thinking to do.

According to Transfermarkt, the midfielder is currently valued at £54 million, a sum which Chelsea will be able to afford really easily but the Gunners boss will have to really sweat it out before he can convince the club owners to sanction such a huge amount for a single player.

Declan Rice is obviously going to be the first-choice midfield target for Chelsea in the summer but if the Blues do decide to come after Eduardo Camavinga in the coming months then there no way Arsenal will even come close to signing him.

The North London side are devoid of top level European football next season while Chelsea have recently been crowned the Champions League winners. So obviously the choice will be really simple for the French international.
