Premier League sides Chelsea and Arsenal have shown an interest in Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga but Manchester United could stage a coup in this transfer race, according to Sky Sports.

The report claims: “Manchester United are one of a number of clubs interested in signing 18-year-old Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

“Sky Sports News understands United have held informal talks with Camavinga’s representatives, with the teenager having entered the final year of his contract. Rennes want him to sign a new deal.”

Is Eduardo Camavinga the ideal signing for Manchester United?

Camavinga has been tipped for greatness which is why so many big clubs are so interested in signing him up during the ongoing transfer window.

But according to former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand, United should not risk signing the 18-year-old and should rather try and get someone like Declan Rice.

Ferdinand said, as per MEN: “I’ve not seen enough of him if I’m honest. I’ve seen a bit of him, his debut against PSG where he got man of the match, unreal.

“Talent? Obviously. Is he going to come in and effect the team right now and become a star, or is he going to come in and be a bit like an Amad, who comes in for £40m but is nowhere near the starting 11?

“Is that what we [United] need? Or do we need someone like Declan Rice who is flying at the moment? In an England shirt, he’s taken it to other levels now. We all knew he was a good player at West Ham but what Declan Rice is doing in the England team right now, for his age, is a madness.

“Then it comes down to have Man United got the funds to go and get him from West Ham? What are they going to ask for West Ham?

“For me, I’ve got to be honest, football ability Camavinga, Rice are fantastic players. You can see the potential a mile off. But Rice brings you character.”

Chelsea and Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Camavinga’s situation for a really long time and this sudden interest from Manchester United is sure to cause a lot of panic amongst the two London sides.

Yes, Rio Ferdinand absolutely right about taking a gamble on Eduardo Camavinga but the reality is that Declan Rice will not be an easy target at all, especially since West Ham United have now entered Europe.

Also, Chelsea hold a long-standing interest in the England international so Man United will not have it easy either way.
