England take on Germany in the Nations League on Monday night and both teams have only pride to play for. England have been relegated to League B and Germany won’t be able to qualify for the Nations League Finals.

The Three Lions were one of the best teams in Europe just a few years ago but right now, they are in all sorts of problems. The pressure is mounting on Gareth Southgate because England have not won a match in their previous five attempts and with the World Cup just around the corner, this game against Germany will be very important for the manager.

A lot of questions have been raised regarding Southgate’s team selection and his playing tactics and the manager will have to get things right on Monday right or else his job will be on the line.

The manager is expected to heavily rotate his starting line up and this is the final chance for the backup players to prove their worth to their national team’s manager. Currently, there are several regular starters who are out of form so this is the golden chance for the benchwarmers to move up the pecking order.

England’s team news vs Germany:

Nick Pope started in goal against Italy but this time around, Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale should be coming into the starting line up.

John Stones is also back from suspension so he will be coming into the side and based on this season’s form Fikayo Tomori should also be given a chance. Maguire and Kyle Walker were both underwhelming against Italy so it will be interesting to see whom the manager will drop.

Jordan Henderson is recovering from an injury but he should be fit enough to be part of the matchday squad. The Liverpool midfielder came in for the injured Kalvin Phillips but so far he’s been of no use for England.

With Hendo not likely to be ready to start, Bellingham and Declan Rice will probably hold onto their places in central midfield.

Luke Shaw and Ben Chilwell will be fighting for a place in the first XI because the experiment of using Bukayo Saka as the left wing-back failed very badly in the previous game.

Jack Grealish picked up a yellow card against Italy so he will be unavailable on Monday and this will be a big problem for Gareth Southgate because the Man City man had a positive impact after coming on against Italy.

Players like Mason Mount, Ivan Toney and Tammy Abraham are all probable to come into the side but will Gareth Southgate have the courage to bench someone like Phil Foden or Raheem Sterling?

England predicted line up vs Germany:

Predicted Starting Line up(3-4-2-1): Ramsdale; Tomori/Walker, Stones, Dier/Maguire; Bellingham, Declan Rice, Luke Shaw, Trippier; Mount, Foden; Harry Kane.
