England are off to a winning start in the European Championship beating Croatia in their first group game on Sunday and next up, they face Scotland. And in this piece, we take a look at the England team news vs Scotland.

The two British sides take on each other on Friday and if the Three Lions can manage a win vs Clarke’s side then they will have one foot in the knockout stages.

Gareth Southgate chose to make some unusual selections last Sunday but for the England team news vs Scotland, we are expecting something really simple and straightforward from the manager. He is expected to take a lot less risks in naming his starting line-up.

In the England team news, we take a look at all the injury concerns and absentees going into the second game. The last time these two sides met was back in 2017 when Scotland shocked everyone by picking up a 2-2 draw. But this time around, we don’t expect to see such an upset.

England are undefeated in 33 of their last 35 matches in the European Championship but after losing their opening game, Scotland are going to give it their all to pick up a win and remain in contention.

England team news vs Scotland:

Dean Henderson has been ruled out from the rest of the tournament due to a hip problem so Jordan Pickford is going to the first-choice keeper for England.

Harry Maguire is not likely to be fit any time soon so Tyrone Mings will once again partner John Stones in central defence.

Luke Shaw or Ben Chilwell did not make it into the starting line-up against Croatia with Kieran Trippier starting at left-back but we expect one of them to come into the side on Friday. The manager is likely to have a traditional back-four in which case Luke Shaw should get the nod ahead of Chilwell.

Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips were a class apart on Sunday and the pair have more or less secured their place in midfield for the rest of the tournament – barring an injury.

Phil Foden was really subdued against Croatia so we are hoping Gareth Southgate will call in Jack Grealish while Raheem Sterling is going to keep his place in the starting line-up.

Mason Mount was another standout player in England’s opener and he too will start against Scotland. With Mount playing in attacking midfield, Jack Grealish, if he is selected, is going to play on the right wing.

Harry Kane is going to play in the centre-forward’s role with Calvert-Lewin coming in as a sub during the second half.
