Arsenal take on Newcastle United in the EPL on Monday at the Emirates and the Gunners have no other option but to pick up all three points vs the Magpies.

Arsenal dropped points against Palace last week so if they are unsuccessful against Newcastle United as well then Mikel Arteta will have to brace for yet another storm.

After the Newcastle United match, the North London side will have to face teams like Southampton, Man United, Aston Villa and Wolves in the EPL all within a span of less than two weeks. And given the roller coaster season they’ve been having, the Gunners could once again move closer to the relegation zone by the start of next month.

Michael Owen though thinks nothing such will happen as Arsenal still have the momentum from their previous few wins to keep Newcastle United at bay and pick up all three points.

He wrote for BetVictor: “These two were neck and neck for 90 minutes in last week’s FA Cup 3rd round match. They reoppose again here in the Premier League with both sides dropping points in their midweek matches.

“Pressure is mounting on Steve Bruce. Their defeat away to Sheffield United did not go down well with the Magpies faithful and they will be demanding a response here.

“Despite Arsenal drawing at home midweek, the vibes around the Emirates are still positive. They are certainly playing with more confidence than they were showing a few weeks ago. I think this one could be tight again, but with spirits so low at Newcastle just now, I can only see one winner.”

A loss for Arsenal on Monday could see teams like Leeds, Wolves and even Palace move above them on the EPL table meaning Mikel Arteta’s side could enter the next match-week as the 15th placed team.

Steve Bruce will be hoping that his boys can put up yet another courageous fight, much like they did last weekend in the FA Cup but like Owen, we also don’t think Arsenal will falter on Monday.

The Gunners boss only a handful of players out injured meaning Arteta should be able to put his best players out on the pitch and this quality alone will ensure that Newcastle United do not cause an upset.
