EPL side Arsenal are reportedly on the verge signing Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid on a loan deal but this transfer could spell the end of Dani Ceballos at the Emirates.

Ceballos is also on loan from the Los Blancos and this season he has played in 16 EPL matches for the Gunners and most of these appearances have come off the bench.

Pundit Martin Keown believes Dani Ceballos’s time at Arsenal could be cut short if the North London side are fixated on signing Martin Odegaard on loan.

He told talkSPORT, as reported: “I’m assuming Arsenal are all over it. He [Odegaard] brings that quality into the midfield. It’s an area Arsenal need to strengthen.

“Does that mean [Dani] Ceballos will go? He’s on loan as well. Is he going to get football? Real Madrid may be concerned, he hasn’t played that much so far.”

This is not the only problem with the Martin Odegaard deal since former Gunner Kevin Campbell believes the 22-year-old might not turn out to be a recipe for success in the EPL, especially since he will only be joining for six odd months.

Campbell told Metro: ‘We’ve got enough experience in the squad to last a lifetime, we need to bring that age group down within the squad.

‘Odegaard was on loan for the last season with Real Sociedad and did really well, went back to his parent club in Real Madrid and it hasn’t quite worked out for him.

‘You’re thinking to yourself the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, they’re going to start to hit the buffers but Modric has been unbelievable this season, Kroos is still a world-class player.

‘So he’s found chances limited. He’s not the type of kid who wants to just sit around, he wants to play, he’s a very talented player. ‘It is a risk because I don’t know how he would react to playing in the Premier League but one thing I do know is he’s got the talent.’

Martin Odegaard has been a misfit at Real Madrid this season but during the 2019-20 campaign he was superb for Sociedad. This season the Norwegian has played in only seven league matches for Madrid so we doubt if he can make an instant impact in the EPL after his loan move.

Also, the future of Dani Ceballos is certainly up in the air after this news especially since Real Madrid are not ready to call him back to the club for the remainder of the season.
