Nicolas Pepe to replace Aubameyang Arsenal EPL
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal news

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could miss the next few EPL matches for Arsenal after he pulled out of their FA Cup game vs Southampton just a few hours before kick-off. And Mikel Arteta, as of now, is clueless as to when the Gabon international will be back in action.

Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup by the Saints on Saturday but things could get even worse for the Gunners in the coming week if Aubameyang cannot be available in time for their two EPL games.

“He had a personal matter in the last few hours and we had to send him back,” Arteta said, as reported by Euro Sport.

“I don’t know[if he’ll back on Tuesday]. He needs to address that issue and see how it evolves.

“We’re here to support him and he needs to take the time that’s needed because that’s a priority at the moment.”

Aubameyang has had a really average 2020-21 EPL season scoring just five goals in 17 games for the Gunners but the forward was just about finding his old form over the past few weeks.

Now, this new roadblock will cause another headache for Mikel Arteta since the Gunners have two really tough EPL games in the next seven days.

In midweek, Arsenal take on Southampton, this time in the Premier League and then on Saturday they welcome Manchester United at the Emirates.

Both the Saints and Man United are in fine form during the ongoing season and with a player like Aubameyang out of action, damage limitation could very well be the mantra for the Arsenal boss.

Hopefully, Auba can sort out his problems pretty quickly and be available for selection but in case he misses out then Arteta will have to use someone like the inexperienced Gabriel Martinelli on the left-wing.
