Rangers FC take on Brondby in the Europa League on Thursday and neither Ryan Kent nor Ryan Jack will be fit enough to be named in the matchday squad.

Both these players have been making great progress behind the scenes but manager Steven Gerrard has now confirmed that Thursday’s game will come too early for them.

The boss said in his press conference: “Everyone has got through the weekend. Ryan Kent is closer, but this game is a little bit too soon.

“Ryan Jack is progressing and should be back in training around the Aberdeen match.

“I think we should be scoring more goals and rewarding our play, I would be more frustrated if we weren’t creating the chances in the first place. Alfredo is still getting into the right places and it is only a matter of time before he gets back in the goals.”

Will the Gers miss these two for the Europa League clash?

Ryan Kent has been on the sidelines since he picked up a hamstring injury against Lyon in the opening Europa League game while Jack has been out for even longer as he had to undergo surgery during the summer.

Gerrard has managed to adapt to life without these two players so there should no problems in naming a strong starting XI on Thursday(not at least in the attacking third).

Scott Wright will once again start on the left flank but the midfield might be a slight cause of concern for the manager since Glen Kamara is suspended after his red card last time out. This means Steven Davis and Bacuna will come into midfield alongside Lundstram.

Rangers have lost both their opening matches in the Europa League so far and going into this match they are sitting at the bottom of the table. They will need to win on Thursday if they wish to keep their knockout hopes alive.
