Everton head to Anfield this weekend to take on Liverpool and Frank Lampard has announced that he has a long list of injuries.

The likes of Andros Townsend and Tom Davies are already sidelined with injuries and now Donny van de Beek and Andre Gomes have also joined this ill-fated list.

Van de Beek has picked up a groin injury while Gomes has sustained a groin injury. The absence of these two midfielders will be a major setback for Everton and to make matters worse, Dominic Calvert Lewin will only return at the start of next month.

Lampard said in his pre-match press conference: “We have a couple of small injuries.

“Donny van de Beek won’t be fit, he has a small injury in his groin area. Andre Gomes has another small problem which keeps him out this weekend.

“On Yerry, that’s a decision I’ll have to make closer to the game because of the tight turnaround between games.

“He’s an important player for us and we must understand we have six more games after this one [against Liverpool]. I’ll have good communication with Yerry to make the right decision for us.

“Nobody is a machine. It is a tough, tough industry. There are a lot of demands on the players.

“It can happen to players, where they have a run of bad luck, and one injury leads to another. Nobody is infallible and Dominic has had a bad run.”

Will Everton be able to rattle Liverpool’s cage despite so many injuries?

Everton are just one point above the relegation zone so a loss to Liverpool could push them down to the bottom three and with so many key players missing, it will be almost impossible for the Toffees to pick up a win.

Frank Lampard though has very realistic ambitions that’s why he has admitted that even a draw on Sunday will be a great result for his side. Liverpool though will not be content with a point because they need a win to be able to maintain the pressure on Manchester City.

A loss for Liverpool will more or less hand Man City the Premier League title so we expect Jurgen Klopp’s side to throw the kitchen sink at their Merseyside rivals.
