4-2-3-1 Everton’s team news vs Man United: James Rodriguez to replace Sigurdsson?

Carlo Ancelotti Real Madrid

Everton returned to winning ways in the Premier League as they beat Leeds United 2-1 in midweek and next up, they face Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Toffees are currently sixth on the league table with 36 points and a win against Man United will push them to just one points off the fourth spot with two games still in hand.

After their fine performance vs Leeds, Ancelotti will be hoping that his boys can bring the same level of performance on the table vs United. This though will be easier said that done as Man United come into this game at the back of a 9-0 win over Southampton and Everton haven’t been able to win at Old Trafford since 2013.

Carlo Ancelotti does have a few injury concerns to deal with going into Saturday’s game but the Italian does have a strong enough squad to be able to name a solid starting XI at Old Trafford.

Everton team news vs Man United:

Jordan Pickford missed the Leeds game with a rib injury but the Everton boss is hopeful that the keeper will be back to full fitness before they visit Old Trafford.

Ben Godfrey started in central defence in midweek but former United man Michael Keane is likely to come back into the starting line-up alongside Yerry Mina.

Seamus Coleman and Holgate will be fighting for a place at right-back but we feel the latter will get the nod.

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored Everton’s first goal against Leeds in midweek which is why Ancelotti will not want to push him to the bench. But with James Rodriguez set to come back into the side, Sigurdsson might have to settle for a place in central midfield, alongside Doucoure.

If Sigurdsson plays in midfield then Andre Gomes will move to the bench and will have to be content with a substitute appearance.

Rodriguez will play as the attacking midfield with Iwobi operating on the right-wing and Richarlison playing on the left flank.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the second goal for Everton against Leeds United and the 23-year-old will start up front this weekend vs Manchester United.

Everton’s predicted line-up vs Man United:

Predicted Starting XI: Pickford; Michael Keane, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate, Digne; Sigurdsson/Gomes, Doucoure, James Rodriguez; Iwobi, Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
