Liverpool set to miss four players for the Merseyside Derby: Rotations incoming?

Liverpool take on Everton in the Premier League on Wednesday and Jurgen Klopp will be without four first-team players for the derby.

The Reds are in prime form right now so they are the odds out favourites to beat their local rivals but Jurgen Klopp will be missing players like Joe Gomes and Naby Keita – two players who have been on the sidelines for some time now.

Both these players have returned to training but the Everton game comes too early for them to make a comeback. Curtis Jones and Roberto Firmino though are still a few weeks away from setting on the grass.

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “Joe is in a really good moment. He is doing really well, he is doing a lot of stuff outside, so hopefully next week he can be in training.

“I hope the same for Naby, pretty much – that he will be in training next week as well, but there’s no news.

“There’s no real update [on Curtis], so we have to wait. I think once every two weeks they always make another examination. Curtis is completely fine, but we have to be careful with it and so we cannot rush it. I think the next test is tomorrow and then we will know more.

“Bobby is good but he is still a couple of weeks away from being fully back, but he is doing pretty much everything just with the extent of the injury we have to be careful, but it’s all fine.”

The Liverpool boss set to rest and rotate his regular players?

Everton are not in the best of form right now so it won’t be a surprise if Jurgen Klopp opts to keep some of his regular starters on the bench.

With Firmino out injured, the Liverpool boss cannot afford this kind of luxury in the final third so Mane, Mo Salah and Diogo Jota will all start on Wednesday.

But in the middle of the pitch, the German should be rotating some players.

Fabinho will hold onto this place from the Southampton game but Thiago is due a rest since he’s players back to back games for the Anfield outfit.

Now that James Milner is back to full fitness, the Liverpool boss will surely put Thiago on the bench and use someone like Milner or Oxlade-Chamberlain alongside Fabinho and Henderson.

Thiago scored against the Saints but the 30-year-old has been injury-prone in the previous year so Jurgen Klopp will definitely shield him.

Klopp does have someone like Takumi Minamino who can play in multiple roles across midfield and the final third but we don’t think he is going to be awarded a start.

Apart from these changes Konate could also to the bench – making way for Joel Matip.
