FIFA president Gianni Infantino has sent out a clear warning to all its association that they should not rush to restart the leagues until it’s absolutely safe to do so.

A number of top European leagues are already chalking out plans to resume the 2019-20 season, with some of them planning to play matches behind closed doors while others want to end their remaining matches in a World Cup style format.

But Infantino has suggested it will not be sensible to risk human lives just to finish the reason.

“Our first priority, our principle, the one we will use for our competitions and encourage everyone to follow is that health comes first,” the FIFA president said in a statement on Friday, as reported by Reuters.

“I cannot stress this enough. No match, no competition, no league is worth risking a single human life. Everyone in the world should have this very clear in their mind.

“It would be more than irresponsible to force competitions to resume if things are not 100 per cent safe. If we have to wait a little longer we must do so. It’s better to wait a little bit longer than to take any risks.

“You have to know that we will be there and we will find solutions together. You will never be alone… (and) the world will know where the money goes and, equally important, why the money goes there.

“If soccer manages to have a discussion where everyone contributes positively and keeps in mind the global interest over the individual one, I am convinced our future can be better than our past, and we will be better prepared for the times ahead.”

FIFA has already made a series of massive changes so that all the leagues across the globe do not stress about wrapping up the 2019-20 season.

The governing body of football has already agreed to move the summer transfer window so that clubs and leagues can adjust accordingly.

They have also allowed the contracts of players to be extended beyond their current ending date(usually the 30th of June) since most leagues are expected to extend deep into the summer.
