Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has been warming the benches this season and as per some reports, Leeds United are interested in signing him at the start of the new year.

Last season, Tomori played a number of matches for the senior side which prompted many to believe that he will feature heavily in Lampard’s plans this season.

That though has not been the case since Thiago Silva has found a constant partner in the form of Kurt Zouma in central defence. During the 2020-21 season, Fikayo Tomori has featured in only one Premier League game for the Blues which is why a loan move seems to be the most logical option.

Leeds United have been keeping tabs on the 22-year-old for some time now but according to talkSPORT, the defender is likely to join French side Rennes next month.

The report claims: “Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is set to join French club Rennes on loan until the end of the season, talkSPORT understands.”

This is a big setback for Bielsa and his January plans since the Leeds manager was eager to add some defensive reinforcements for the remainder of the season.

West Ham United tried to sign him during the summer but the youngster backed out of the move on Deadline Day but it seems his game has not really paid off.

Fikayo Tomori is way down the pecking order right now at Chelsea and he has no other option but to head out if he wishes to get more game time for the rest of the season.

Tomori is not the only player who could be heading out in January as Antonio Rudiger is another person who is also likely to head out of Chelsea.
