Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino missed the Champions League win in midweek with a knee injury and it looks like the same injury could keep him out of the Wolves clash on Monday.

Liverpool take on Wolves in the Premier League and the Brazilian is facing a race against time to be in the matchday squad. If things down work out perfectly then the manager might have to use Diogo Jota up front.

Jurgen Klopp said, as per Liverpoolfc.com: “We will see. Bobby was not with us, that means he couldn’t play.

“Now we have a few more days and later on, we have the medical meeting actually after the press conference – sorry! – so they will give me more information about that. We will see, two more days, hopefully.

“[It] looks like in the moment [everybody else is fit].”

Roberto Firmino has been really underwhelming this season for Liverpool and his injury might not have come at a bad time for the club.

With Jota out injured, Firmino the obvious choice for the centre-forward’s role but now with the former back to full fitness, the manager has the perfect excuse to not use Firmino.

During the 2020-21 season, the 29-year-old has scored only six goals in 27 league matches for Liverpool so far and with him likely to miss out on Monday, Jota will have the chance to snatch the forward’s role and make it his own for the remainder of the season.

And speaking in the buildup for Monday’s match, Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Jota’s return to full fitness is a huge boost for Liverpool.

The manager said: “He was a big miss, a big miss. I think the moment when he got injured he was in a really good moment, which always then makes the fact, which is already bad, that the player is injured even worse.

“What does he bring? His qualities. He can play up front in all three positions, he played all three positions for us and that is already really helpful. He can play them on a really high level, so he makes us stronger, which is really good.”
