France won their first World Cup in 20 long years after they defeating Croatia 4-2 in the finals on Sunday.

While many thought the game would be an evenly matched one but the Les Bleus just breezed past their European rivals and lifted the World Cup trophy.

Most of the players were at their top form for France on Sunday – except Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Kante was uncharacteristically below par during the game and was eventually substitutes during the second half by manager Didier Deschamps.

After the match, several reports emerged that the little Frenchman was playing the final with a stomach bug which could have been the reason for his average performance in Moscow against Croatia.

But the fact of the matter is that France would have found it very difficult to reach the final if it hadn’t been for the heroics of N’Golo Kante.

The Chelsea man was instrumental in almost every game for France up until the final and even his teammates recognized his importance as they sang his name after the victory.

We all know for a fact that N’Golo Kante is one of the most down to earth footballers that you will find in the world but according to Get France Football, the midfielder was even too shy to hold the World Cup trophy after the win.

As the other players were busy clicking pictures with the trophy, Kante stood in the background and was looking the other way.

And it was Steven N’Zonzi(a transfer target for Arsenal) who noticed the midfielder and forced him to click a picture with the World Cup trophy.

Before 2015 no one even knew the name of N’Golo Kante but it was the title-winning season with Leicester City in the Premier League that changed everything for the little man. And here he is three years later – lifting the World Cup for France.
