A former Newcastle United player has accused his former youth team coach of sexually assaulting him.

The youth coach in question is George Ormond and he recently faced trail infront of a jury at the Newcastle Crown Court.

The former player who is now in his 50’s cannot be named for legal reasons revealed that he was sexually abused multiple times by Ormond while he was with the youth team.

And shockingly these incidents took place 30-years ago and he did not reveal it to anyone thinking that no one would believe him.

The player told the jury: “She said ‘Do you know a coach called George Ormond at Newcastle United?’

“I said ‘yes’, and she said ‘Oh my God, he has been charged with sex assault on young footballers’, and I was just like ‘Babe, he did that to me’.”

But when he saw Andrew Woodward discuss being abused by another coach, Barry Bennell, on the Victoria Derbyshire programme in 2016 he mustered up the courage and told his therapist.

“I felt I had to do that, I have to tell my story about what happened,” he added.

Ormond though denies that any of the alleged incidents took place.

He is charged with one count of buggery against this victim, and 36 counts of indecent assault and one of indecency against 19 victims, all teenage boys at the time, between 1973 and 1998.
